We live here. We know hospitality. And we think where you stay can change the entire trip.

The Riviera Maya Edit started with a simple problem. Most hotel content covering this coast is written by people passing through for a few days, or paid to say a property is worth it whether or not it actually is. We wanted something different: an independent, honest answer to one question, where should you actually stay, and what's genuinely worth the money.

We're not visiting. This is where we live, work, and spend our own money on hotels, restaurants, and time off. That changes what we notice. A resort website can show you the infinity pool. It won't tell you the walk from the room to the beach club, whether the noise carries from the lobby bar at night, or if the swim-up room is actually worth what they're charging for it.

One of us has spent over 30 years in hospitality in and around the Riviera Maya. The other spent 20 years in marketing and brand strategy before moving here. Between the two of us, we know both sides of a hotel stay: what a property is actually delivering, and what's simply good marketing.

How We Evaluate a Stay
What We Experience

We stay, visit, or verify each property directly wherever possible, rather than relying only on press materials.

What We Look For

Service quality, room placement, noise, walking distances, and the details that never show up in the photos.

What We're Honest About

If a beautiful hotel isn't right for your trip, we'll say so, and tell you who it's actually right for instead.

How We Handle Partnerships

Paid partnerships are always labeled. Recommendations remain our own.

New hotel reviews, comparisons, and area guides go out through The Edit.
